Vatican source Asianews.it (blocked in China, available here) confirmed what Aloysius Jin Luxian said in the interview:

Jin said Rome and Beijing have quietly agreed to close the schism in the Shanghai Diocese by acceding to the appointment of Joseph Xing Wenzhi as auxiliary bishop on June 28.

However, China says Vatican did not approve appointment of Shanghai bishop.

"He was chosen by our Shanghai Catholic community and was approved by the Chinese Catholic Bishops College," said an official with the Shanghai Religious Affairs Bureau, who refused to be named.

"It has nothing to do with the Vatican."

Little was mentioned about Joseph Fan Zhongliang

Many Chinese Catholics reject the authority of Jin, 89, and others in the official Church, preferring to worship in underground congregations with their own clergy. They regard another elderly priest, Joseph Fan Zhongliang, as Shanghai's true bishop.
